The Bond You Need. The Feel You Want.
GOAFLEX INC. manufactures TPU resin pellets for adhesive films and seam-tape construction. From general textile lamination to challenging DWR-treated surfaces, our grades address different requirements for softness, fabric wetting, melt flow and mechanical properties.
Thin Film Lamination
Balance Bond Strength with Film Performance.
A thin adhesive film needs to perform during both converting and bonding. It must have suitable mechanical properties for handling, then flow and wet the fabric surfaces during lamination. The finished composite also needs to meet its intended requirements for hand feel, drape, flexibility and adhesion.
CoMax-8810 is our general-purpose hot melt adhesive grade for textile applications. CoMax-8875 offers excellent fabric wetting with a balance of bonding strength and mechanical properties, making it a useful starting point when both the adhesive interface and the film’s physical performance need attention.
Match the resin with the fabric combination, then assess the feel and bond performance of the completed laminate.
Flow into the Fabric. Build the Bond.
A dependable seam starts at the bonding surface. The adhesive layer needs to make close contact with the garment’s inner fabric or coating, while the tape construction must provide the required flexibility and support. For densely knitted fabrics, reaching into the textile structure is an important consideration in adhesive selection.
CoMax-8866 is intended for the adhesive layer, with ultra-high melt flow designed to promote penetration into densely knitted fabrics. For structural film development, CoMax-8658 offers a harder TPU hot melt adhesive option at Shore 95A.
Match the tape construction and application conditions to the actual bonding surface, and evaluate the complete taped seam against the garment’s required care and water-protection conditions.
A Softer Way to Bond Difficult Fabrics.
Water-repellent finishes change the surface an adhesive may need to bond to. When that surface is difficult to wet, selecting a resin by the fabric’s fibre type alone is not enough. The adhesive must be considered alongside the finish, fabric construction and the softness required in the bonded assembly.
CoMax-8860, also offered as BondMax-560, combines ultra-soft material characteristics with improved wetting for difficult technical textiles. It is our specialty starting point for DWR-treated nylon, polyester/nylon-blend fabrics and nylon ripstop—applications where surface contact and material softness are both important.
In an internal bonding test involving DWR-treated nylon mesh, CoMax-8860 recorded approximately 3.8 kgf/cm average peel strength in both tested directions, using bonding conditions of 135°C for 30 seconds.
Five trials per direction: 3.82 kgf/cm lengthwise and 3.80 kgf/cm crosswise. Results describe the reported test construction and conditions.
Explore More Structure in the Details.
A patch, reinforcement panel or folded hem places different demands on the material. Some details need local firmness and support; others need to fold and move comfortably with the garment. Film thickness, bond area and the shape of the detail all influence the finished result.
CoMax-8658, a harder TPU hot melt adhesive at Shore 95A, or CoMax-8890 at Shore 90A is a candidate for development where a firmer adhesive film is desired. Potential applications include selected patches, reinforcement panels and bonded hem constructions.
